More, Please: Dodge Increases Production of 2016 Hellcat Models

In a week where all eyes are on Fiat Chrysler Automobiles for recalls, fines and hacking threats, there's one ray of sunshine coming from FCA in regards to its superstar twins, the 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat coupe and Charger SRT Hellcat sedan. The Charger and Challenger Hellcats have been so wildly successful that Dodge is doubling production for 2016 to meet the huge demand.

Dodge stopped taking orders earlier this year to catch up on over-promised demand. Even as model-year 2015 production ends, all the orders haven't been fulfilled, so Dodge will cancel verified orders and require customers to reorder a 2016 Hellcat, though at a discounted price that's currently undetermined, according to an FCA spokesperson.

Along with increased production, both Hellcats see equipment changes for 2016 with a newly standard Laguna leather interior, Uconnect 8.4 with navigation and five years of SiriusXM Travel Link and Traffic. Customers can place orders for a 2016 Hellcat starting the second week of August; production starts in September with deliveries expected in the fourth quarter.
