CARS.COM -- After announcing just last month that limited production of the '80s-fabulous DeLorean will resume, the boutique automaker isn't wasting any time spreading the news. DeLorean Motor Co. today released the first commercial for the resurrected DeLorean DMC-12, the stainless-steel, gull-winged sports coupe made famous by the "Back to the Future" film series.

The two-minute commercial takes a rather interesting tack -- which is to say keeping the tach in lower rpm. Bookended by the phrase "Because there is no time to waste ... I lived as slowly as I could," the spot shows a man walking in the desert before happening across a lone DeLorean. The car's driver-side door opens toward the sky by itself, and the wanderer gets in and pulls the door shut, then proceeds to drive at a remarkably deliberate speed across the mountainous desert landscape before stopping and tossing away his "lucky" Kennedy half-dollar.
We weren't really sure what that last scene was supposed to mean, but it's doubtful those who are DeLorean enthusiasts or "Back to the Future" fanatics (or both) would believe they were throwing money away on one of these iconic rides -- even at an anticipated $100,000 sticker price.
