Ryan Reynolds to Provide Super Bowl Distraction With Hyundai Ad

CARS.COM — Five days before Ryan Reynolds hits the big screen as a violent, facially disfigured comic-book antihero in "Deadpool," the star will trade on his characteristic good looks and beguiling charm in a Super Bowl commercial for Hyundai. The 30-second spot, to run in the second quarter of the big game Feb. 7 advertising the 2017 Elantra sedan and its automated safety capabilities, takes place in the fictional town of Ryanville — where all the residents are Ryan Reynolds.

The ad follows a pair of women as they drive through Ryanville in their 2017 Elantra to the tune of Salt 'N' Pepa's "Whatta Man," admiring the many denizens as they pass — from bicyclist Ryan Reynolds to hard-hat-wearing construction worker Ryan Reynolds to a group of Ryan Reynoldses playing football in a yard. So wrapped up in Ryan Reynolds is the driver (Reynolds wrapped?) that she nearly strikes dog-walking Ryan Reynolds as he crosses the street.

Luckily for Reynolds, the Elantra is equipped with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. If only he'd had a safety feature to stop him from starring in "Green Lantern."
