Clarkson, Hammond, and May’s New Amazon Show Might be Called “Gear Knobs”

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May to be on Amazon Instant Video

-

Ever since Clarkson, Hammond, and May signed on with Amazon for a new car show, there has been a debate as to what the new program might be called. Before the deal with Amazon, it was thought that if the trio went to Netflix, the show would be called House of Cars, a take on that streaming service’s original series House of Cards.

But now, Buzzfeed has acquired documents which show that people close to Clarkson registered trademarks for “Gear Knobs” as a name for a TV show and merchandise just two weeks before the Amazon agreement was announced. Furthermore, the same law firm registered trademarks for “Speedbird,” which Buzzfeed speculates could be the name for a new, Stig-like character on the show.

It remains to be seen if that is actually the name, but knowing how the Top Gear guys tend to speak about themselves, it isn’t all that outlandish to think that they would just be upfront and call themselves knobs in the show title.
