New 2015 Camaros Going for $7,000 Off MSRP

Chevrolet just announced pricing for the all-new 2016 Camaro that goes on sale in November. Whenever a model gets a complete overhaul like this, the forgotten current generation car often sits around on dealer lots as eager buyers wait patiently for the new car to arrive. In the case of the 2015 Camaro that means it is seeing steep discounts.

Chevrolet is offering a $1,500 cash-back incentive nationally through Aug. 31, but after sorting through the nearly 20,000 model-year 2015 Camaros in Cars.com's inventory, we found significantly more money taken off some MSRPs.

On many Camaro V-6 2LS models we're seeing listing prices anywhere from 22-25 percent off the MSRP -- and a few much higher. We found a 2015 Camaro in Rockville, Md., with 27 percent off its price, taking the $26,760 MSRP down to $19,371 (not including destination charges).

V-8 models saw smaller but still significant discounts, with many over 15 percent off the MSRP. We found one 2015 Camaro in Miami with 20 percent off the $35,795 MSRP, taking the price down to $28,712.

We also found many 2015 Ford Mustangs with the EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder or V-6 engines showing a listing price around 20 percent lower than the MSRP; this was a slight surprise since the Mustang was redesigned for the 2015 model year. But there are far fewer new Mustangs listed overall in Cars.com's new-car inventory and fewer with significant discounts than the 2015 Camaro.

V-8 Mustangs are seeing much smaller discounts, with most we found around 10 percent off the MSRP and a few reductions in the 12-15 percent range.

In July it took 110 days for dealers to sell a new Camaro coupe versus 53 for a new Mustang. The average time it took to sell any new car in July was 64 days.

The discounted prices on the 2015 models may be a great value for Camaro shoppers, but if you just need basic transportation, Chevy has an outgoing midsize sedan just for you. We found plenty of 2015 Malibus discounted more than 30 percent. One example in Clearwater, Fla., has a 37 percent discount on a 2015 Malibu, dropping the $25,113 MSRP down to $15,846. The redesigned 2016 arrives at dealers by the year's end.
