In case you haven’t noticed, we’re excited about Mazda’s MX-5 Miata Cup race car. After all, new Miatas only come around every 10 years or so, and the newest factory race-car version puts the rest to bed with its positively mean looks. At this weekend’s Rolex Monterey Reunion races at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Mazda employed the 2016 MX-5 Cup car as a safety vehicle and offered rides. We’re kicking ourselves for not getting a ride—Pebble Beach events and traffic are to blame—but we did get our hands on this footage of the little sports car carving out a lap. Enjoy:
