Earlier this month, Volkswagen announced that as part of a “goodwill” campaign it was offering owners of its noncompliant TDI models a $500 Visa gift card plus another $500 in credit to spend on Volkswagen products and services. Audi A3 TDI owners, whose cars have the same emissions-cheating software, at that point might have asked, “What about me?” Now, Audi says, they’ll be getting they same deal.
-The Audi offers mirrors the Volkswagen one: a $500 Visa gift card and a $500 Audi Dealership Card, plus three years of free roadside assistance. Owners have to go the dealership to collect their prizes.
-As at Volkswagen, the offer only is for owners of cars powered by the 2.0-liter TDI four-cylinder. Those with the 3.0-liter V-6 TDI can only look on enviously. This even though the EPA is now accusing Audi’s 3.0-liter V-6 TDI—in the 2016 Audi A6, A7, A8, A8L, and Q5 TDI models—of having similar emissions-defeating software. Audi has issued a stop-sale on those V-6 diesels, as well, in addition to the 2.0-liter cars. Owners can check their vehicle’s eligibility at this website.
