2017 Hyundai Elantra Gets Android Auto, Apple CarPlay

CARS.COM — The all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra will launch with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay availability when the sedan goes on sale later this month. The two systems seamlessly integrate phone, music and app functions with a car's multimedia system.

This is the first use of Apple CarPlay in a Hyundai. The automaker initially expected CarPlay to launch on the 2015 Sonata in late 2014. CarPlay now will come to the Sonata in the first quarter. Hyundai released counterpart Android Auto compatibility on the Sonata in May 2015.

The Elantra launches with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as part of an $800 Popular Equipment Package with 7-inch touch-screen, backup camera, cruise control, heated outside mirrors and more. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on the Limited trim with a larger 8-inch screen and navigation. For 2017 Elantra pricing information, click here.

Elantra buyers won't be the only ones to get CarPlay, however, since Hyundai plans to offer retrofit options for both systems on compatible vehicles with Hyundai's fourth-generation navigation system or Display Audio — more details will follow regarding retrofits.
