When Acura released a teaser image of its new Precision concept in December, we could see it was going to be a sleek-and-sexy futuristic luxury performance car. What we couldn't glean from the shadowy rendering was how beefy and brawny this bad boy would be — not until it was fully unveiled here in Detroit at the 2016 North American International Auto Show.

The Precision's muscular appearance threatens formidable performance stats that don't yet exist in this point on the space-time continuum. The powerful look of the sport sedan is accentuated by a narrow, B-pillar-less profile, as well as an impractically low-riding stance guaranteed to be a speed bump's mortal enemy. According to Acura, the concept measures 204 inches in length, 84 inches in width and 52 inches in height; it rides on giant 22-inch five-spoke machined wheels.

While the Precision isn't exactly production material, Acura promises its styling presages the future of the brand's design. Honda's luxury division says designers put an "emphasis on high-contrast details and the intersection of modern, sheer surfaces and muscular, organic sculpting," communicating its performance bent "through its ultra-low and wide stance, long dash-to-axle ratio, deeply sculpted surfaces and the debut of a new Diamond Pentagon grille."

More so than a diamond, that grille resembles a giant "batarang" with a commensurately outsized Acura emblem in the center, while the "Jewel Constellation" headlights make one feel like he or she is gazing into the eyes of Iron Man. From front to back, the Precision is all sharp angles, curvy contours and dramatically deep grooves like those slashing across the bottom of the nigh-seamless and entirely handle-less doors. The light reflecting off the profile's contours at a certain vantage looks like Zorro cut his signature Z across the entire side of the car with the letter's tail stretching all the way back across curvaceous hips that would make even Jessica Rabbit envious.

Designers didn't tone things down any inside the cockpit, where cantilevered surfaces, high-contrast front seats, "floating" rear seats and handcrafted wood speaker grilles only intensify the flash factor. Other features include a race-inspired sport steering wheel, floating center gauge, head-up display and a wide, curved multimedia display.

Then there's that "human-machine interface" feature. This futuristic fantasy technology enables "a more intuitive, advanced and seamless connection between man and machine" as the system scans each vehicle passenger upon entry and then selects personalized features and functions such as maps, audio and customized performance settings for each individual.
