2016 Lexus GS 200t: A New Turbo for GS Sedan

When a car company comes up with a new engine — and it's a good one — the automaker likes to spread it around. That's the case with Lexus' new turbocharged four-cylinder that we first tested in the NX 200t compact SUV. It's found its way into the IS sedan and now the even larger GS four-door for 2016.

In the GS, the turbo produces 241 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque, and is rear-wheel drive only.

The GS 350 and GS 450h continue for 2016 carrying over their respective V-6 and hybrid powertrains. The GS 350 adds a few more horses for 2016, 311 versus 306, and 3 more pounds-feet of torque; it will continue to offer all-wheel drive.

All three models get the following updates for 2016:

  • New bi-LED headlights
  • New front bumper, rocker panel design
  • Revised taillights
  • Updated trim
  • New 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Three new paint colors: Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica and Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0
  • New optional Lexus Safety System +
  • Larger 4.2-inch information display screen
  • Navigation now standard on GS 350 and GS 450h

All three will also be available with the F Sport Package that adds both aesthetic and performance upgrades.

The 2016 GS lineup goes on sale this year and pricing won't be announced until closer to the on-sale date. Currently there are more than 4,000 2015 models in Cars.com's new-car inventory. Lexus is running lease and financing deals on the 2015 model through Sept. 8.
