When we first got a look at the Nissan Sports Sedan Concept during the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, it was clear the automaker was headed in an entirely new stylistic direction with its Maxima. Entirely new, that is, unless it's parked next to the Mazda6 to which it bears more than a passing resemblance.

The aggressive, angular and angry-faced exterior design for Nissan's flagship sedan plays up the sportiness angle to underscore the beefed-up acceleration from its 300-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6. The swoopy styling cues of the lower, longer 2016 Maxima include a new "floating roof" effect and curvy character lines spanning the car's side, in addition to boomerang-shaped headlights.
Inside is a driver-focused cockpit with a center stack of controls angled toward the driver, with a 7-inch display and dual USB ports in the base model, leather seats in the SR and a leather-wrapped steering wheel in the Platinum. Check out the gallery below.
