Most old work trucks die alone and covered in rust. Occasionally, however, they’re maintained, restored, and modified, like this 1959 Chevrolet Viking 60, at which point they become bad-ass pieces of automotive history.
-This truck was purchased by the city of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, sometime in the 1960s. Since then, they’ve held onto it, and while details are limited, the seller claims that the truck was primarily used for parades. Given that beefy push-bar front bumper and the substantial hitch in back, one imagines that it not only could pull the biggest float in a parade but it could give a mean nudge to any dawdlers, as well.

This beast is powered by a straight-six engine, hooked to a four-speed manual with a creeper-gear first. From what we can see, it has been tastefully modified and most likely restored at least once, although the largely bare-metal interior could well be original. The odometer shows a tick over 33,000, which means this brute is still in its infancy. It’s currently for sale on eBay with a high bid of $5600, which probably amounts to less than $1 a pound.
