Vehicles affected by service bulletin:
- 2009 Acura TSX
- 2010 Acura TSX
- 2011 Acura TSX
The problem: Deposits may develop on the oil control rings, which can lead to increased oil consumption when several things happen simultaneously and on a regular basis: The engine is operated when cold, hard acceleration occurs with a cold engine and the fuel used has an unusually high concentration of particles.
Corrective action: Dealers will replace all the engine's pistons and piston rings in affected vehicles.
Warranty info: Acura has extended warranty coverage on pistons and piston rings in these vehicles to eight years/125,000 miles, whichever comes first. Repairs are being done under this warranty extension.
What owners should do: Call your local dealer with your vehicle's identification number to determine if it's eligible for repairs. You can call Acura directly at 800-382-2238 or NHTSA at 888-327-4236. Reference TSB No. 13-006.
