Chevy—Not Saturn—Red Line Series Concepts Unveiled; Yes, There’s a Camaro

Chevrolet will join the frenzy of accessorizing that is the SEMA show, with specially dressed versions of the Camaro, Malibu, Silverado, Colorado, and Trax. The custom-painted and enhanced machines all are taking the Red Line Series sobriquet, which could be but probably isn’t an homage to those hotted-up Saturns of not so long ago, cars like the Ion Red Line and the Vue Red Line

-

The vehicles all rock a two-tone color scheme of silver with a charcoal gray roof, and feature charcoal and red highlights. Their accessories are a mixture of currently available items and custom or “concept” elements.

The Camaro is adorned with the following standard accessories: a suspension lowering kit, an air-intake kit, an unspecified brake package, black bowtie and fender badges, and red lower grille inserts. There also are darkened taillamps, sill plates, and floor and cargo mats. Custom features include: satin graphite mirror caps, window moldings, decklid panel graphics, and hash stripes; red fog-lamp bezels; black Camaro nameplates with red accents; and 20-inch wheels in satin graphite with red accents.

The custom ‘Bu wears 19-inch wheels (with red accents added), black mirror caps, a sport pedal kit, floor liners, and a cargo mat—all off-the-shelf items. The custom accessories include a suspension lowering kit, dark-tinted window and taillamp lenses, red lower grille accents, satin graphite window molding, a black grille and surround, a black bowtie and Malibu nameplate, and a black spoiler.

The Silverado already has a pretty extensive selection of accessory items, and the Red Line Series avails itself of the following: 22-inch wheels (accented in red), an air-intake kit, an exhaust kit, Brembo front brakes, a cargo-bed extender and assist steps, cargo rings and cross rails, Thule Hull-a-Port mounts and straps, floor mats, a black-chrome exhaust tip, and a black bowtie kit. On the custom front, we find more satin graphite bits (mirror caps, window moldings, grille surround and insert, door handles, and fog-lamp bezels), dark-tinted windows and taillamp lenses, Silverado nameplates, and Z71 graphics in black and red. Oh, and red tow hooks.

The Red Line Series Colorado features 18-inch wheels (again accented in red), wheel flares, black bowtie badging, Sport assist steps, floor mats, and a bunch of Thule stuff (cargo rings, cross rails, tiered storage, and a bike rack)—all of which you can buy today. Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude tires, black-and-red Colorado nameplates, and satin graphite trim pieces comprise the custom equipment.

The modest Trax crossover has undergone arguably the most modest makeover. From its current accessories bin, Chevrolet has pulled 18-inch wheels (again tarting them up with red accents), black bowties, mats, roof mounts, and roof-rack cross rails. Non-standard kit includes a lower suspension, dark-tinted windows and taillamps, black-and-red Trax nameplates, and the various satin graphite exterior trim bits.

Also tagging along for the trip to SEMA is the Spark RS concept. It, too, is decked out in silver paint and special graphics, and gets carbon-fiber lower-body extensions on the sides and rear, along with a carbon-fiber front splitter. A lower ride height and 17-inch wheels “inspired by the Corvette Z07″ complete the look.2015 SEMA Show Full Coverage
