It’s that time of year again, when Ford swamps SEMA with factory-authorized modded pickup trucks. After previewing seven SEMA Edge and Explorer SUVs, we turn our attention to the SEMA F-150s—lifted, lit up, and generally made to out-macho the 600,000 other Americans that buy one of these pickups each year. Here’s a sneak peek.
-MRT TKO
--There hasn’t been a notable half-ton pickup with a manual transmission since the 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10, the Viper-powered chainsaw that proclaimed itself the world’s fastest production pickup. MRT, a shop in Plymouth, Michigan, is reeling in those years—and a Tremec six-speed that otherwise would have slipped into a Viper ACR. The stick shift teams with an EcoBoost V-6 of unknown power, along with a lowered suspension, a limited-slip differential, and a roll cage, which in a perfect world would make this F-150 eligible for the Nascar Truck Series. That’s not our world, though, so don’t expect to see this stock F-150 on a Nascar oval or a Ford showroom anytime, probably ever.
-Leer Edition Outdoorsman
--Leer has been synonymous with fiberglass bed caps and tonneau covers since the 1970s, and this side-windowed, paint-matched example is no different, aimed at guys who who’d like their Crew Cab F-150 to resemble the old Excursion SUV. A six-inch lift, 22-inch off-road tires, LED rock light kits, a leather interior, and a 1000-watt Rockford Fosgate stereo complete the package.
-Roush Performance
--While Roush’s current F-150 offering is content playing dress-up, this one packs 650 horsepower from a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. It’s quite a step up from the RT570 package Roush offers for last-gen F-150s (good for 570 horsepower) but carries the same R2300 part number. Along it with come an active exhaust, Power Stop drilled brakes, and a lowered suspension (three inches up front, five in the back). It’s worth mentioning that Roush’s close association with Ford Racing means their gear is fully backed by the factory three-year/36,000-mile warranty and sold by franchised Ford dealers. Expect this concept’s hardware, if not its questionable vinyl wrap, to go on sale.
-CGS Performance
--Should an F-150 ever ride on razor-thin Pirelli P Zeros? If you waste endless hours of your life on Los Angeles freeways, then this CGS Motorsports F-150, with its 305/35R-24 rubber, is your ride. The California-based shop added its cat-back exhaust and cold-air intake system to the EcoBoost V-6 powertrain. Then it slapped on a Leer tonneau and a custom hood, powder-coated some of the suspension parts (now with an adjustable air lift), and installed a PML differential cover. Inside, there are custom leather seats from Alea and a hack that lets the MyFord Touch system play videos while driving. The ultimate rush-hour machine.
-Airdesign USA
--Ford says this F-150 is as “aggressive as a honey badger,” but we assume this truck won’t maul its owner’s eyes and throat upon startup. Airdesign USA’s specialty is bolt-on exterior accessories such as the custom fender flares, fender vents, door moldings, hood scoop, and front bumper on this bad boy. A Vortech intercooler, Gibson cat-back exhaust, and Bilstein lift kit with an external reservoir bring the owner some moderate street cred if a full-fledged Raptor is too much to handle.
-Forgiato
--The Forgiato F-150’s star feature is its 24-inch wheels, set off with a Rancho six-inch lift kit. Airdesign USA and Leer also handled the body mods and tonneau cover, while a Whipple supercharger does the actual work of shoving this big-wheeled brute around town.

Galpin Auto Sports
--How did Galpin manage to tie styling elements from the GT40 race car and the Model T onto a modern pickup truck? They’re the largest Ford dealer in all the land, that’s how. They can also install parts with names like “Sway-A-Way” shocks and a “Freak-O-Boost” exhaust, intercooler, and cold air intake. Particularly special are the six-piston 16-inch brake rotors on board. All matter of custom LED headlamps and auxiliary lighting, plus the bed-mounted spare and bumperless front complete the look.
