CARS.COM — Honda announced that its redesigned Civic coupe will start at $19,885, including an $835 destination charge. That's for the base LX trim level with a six-speed manual; a continuously variable automatic transmission is $800 more. The 2016 Civic coupe goes on sale March 15.

The coupe's $19,885 starting price is $410 more than the 2016 Civic sedan that's already on sale, and it features a dramatic fastback shape. The base engine is a 158-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder that goes in LX and LX-P trims while EX and higher models get a 174-hp, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder. Only the base LX model offers a manual transmission; all other versions get the CVT.
Honda has been a regular in the small, affordable coupe segment, but other automakers have been dropping out in recent years; cars like the 2016 Kia Forte Koup and 2016 Scion tC are among the few competitors left.
