CARS.COM — Just a few months after its launch as a separate luxury brand, Hyundai's Genesis is mulling its third car. The brand showed a teaser image and teaser video of a new concept — which its press release calls a "four-door sports sedan" — that will make its debut at next week's 2016 New York International Auto Show.

The teaser image shows the same low-slung trapezoidal grille that characterizes the G80 and G90 sedans — the erstwhile Hyundai Genesis and Equus, respectively — flanked by dramatically thinner headlights. The accompanying teaser video shows what appear to be fender vents in a honeycomb pattern, as well as thin taillights and sharply cornered rear bumpers.
Genesis says the concept's styling signals the future design of multiple cars that will arrive sometime after the G80 and G90 sedans hit dealerships this summer. Hyundai reportedly will sell the brand's cars in its existing dealerships for now, rather than building a separate Genesis dealer network.
If the concept becomes a rival for the BMW 3 Series and its ilk, it would slot below the G80 and G90. That aligns with Genesis' plans to add "a sport coupe and smaller sedan than the G80, plus two new SUVs," according to the brand's consumer website.
Stay tuned for photos and more information on the Genesis concept at next week's auto show.
